A woman was shot dead allegedly by her elder brother for being frequently on the mobile phone at Chak 31/14-L on Tuesday.

According to reports, Sana Kousar had got married with Nadeem Ali of Kamalia and moved to her husband’s house. Sana later sought a divorce and returned to her father’s house. She was often found by her brother, Aon, talking on the mobile phone and he would forbid her from using the phone. On the day of the incident, she was again talking on the phone. An argument ensued between Sana and Aon over the phone calls and she defended her action. Her brother got enraged and he shot her dead with a pistol before fleeing.

Shah Kot Police sent the body to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

Police registered a murder case against the suspect on the complaint of his father, Kousar Abbas.
