In a harrowing incident, a rape survivor has registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code at Islamabad’s Kohsar police station
The victim, a resident of Muridke, District Shekhupura of Punjab, had been in search of employment when she received a WhatsApp message from an individual claiming to be an accountant in the education department, offering available job vacancies. The complainant stated that the suspect requested Rs50,000 in exchange for securing the job.
After the victim arrived in Rawalpindi on July 12 as instructed, the suspect asked her to share her location. They met at the last bus stop of Tench Bhatta, a neighborhood in Rawalpindi, where she handed over her curriculum vitae and Rs30,000. The remaining Rs20,000 were to be paid once she received the written order of employment.
The suspect then informed her that she would need to meet a senior officer for an interview without any objections. He picked her up from the last bus stop of Tench Bhatta and took her to Margalla Hills’ trail 3, an old hiking track in F-6 that leads to the Viewpoint, on July 13.
It was there, in the jungle, that the victim alleges she was raped at gunpoint around 3 pm. Threatened with her life, she remained silent. After the assault, the suspect dropped her off at the last bus stop of Tench Bhatta, issuing further threats.
The survivor has demanded strict legal action against the suspect and has requested a medical examination, which was conducted at Polyclinic with the assistance of a lady constable.
