HYDERABAD: A 15-year-old boy was allegedly raped in Sehwan, eliciting a furious reaction from his family, school teachers and fellow students who took to the streets to protest.
After the initial medical report confirmed the rape, the police registered an FIR on Saturday but the four accused are still at large. According to the boy’s father one of the accused raped his son and the three others assisted in the crime. “He was coaxed into coming to their place. He was locked inside the room with Zakir Shaikh [the main accused],” the father told the media. “They also recorded a video [of the rape] and threatened to upload it if my son complained to anyone.”
The boy, however, immediately informed his parents. The family, neighbours and teachers took the boy to the Sehwan taluka hospital for a medical examination and also reported the crime to the police. “The police nominated only two of the four persons [accused in the case] and so far no one has been arrested,” said teacher Asghar Korejo who led the protest walk. Besides Shaikh, Rustam Ansari has also been nominated in the police case. But the two other suspects, Sami Brohi and Arfan Soomro, have not been booked even though they have been accused by the complainant.
