Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din, Home Minister Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd) and Minister for Population Welfare Zakia Shahnawaz have said that government is taking all possible steps for protection of women against violence. They said this while addressing a review meeting regarding bill for protection of women against violence and their rehabilitation at Civil Secretariat, here today.
Members Punjab Assembly, Secretaries of Law, Social Welfare, Women Development, Home departments, police and other concerned officers attended the meeting. Advisor to CM Salman Sufi gave a detailed briefing on the proposed bill through video link.
The meeting was informed that crisis centers for the protection of women will be upgraded and activated in the province while a mechanism will be devised with the assistance of concerned institutions for redressing the grievances of the women subjected to violence and provision of immediate protection under the law to the affected woman. The meeting was informed that regular monitoring would also be ensured after the implementation of the law. A sub-committee was also constituted on this occasion headed by Provincial Minister Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din for consultation with the concerned departments.
