A judicial magistrate on Thursday granted five-day police remand of a suspect arrested in connection with gang rape and murder of a minor girl.
The body of a 12-year-old girl was found in a trash dump in the Lucky Star area on Sunday. She had been assaulted and strangled, according to the autopsy report.
The investigating officer produced the suspect, Waqar Ali, before a judicial magistrate (South) and requested his 14-day remand.
The IO stated that the suspect, along with his two accomplices, allegedly gang-raped and murdered the girl. He said the suspect would be questioned about his absconding accomplices, and his samples would be taken for DNA profiling, for which his physical remand was required.
