PM pays tribute to Malala

NEW YORK: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday paid rich tributes to Malala Yousafzai for her sacrifice and contribution for the cause of education, especially to girls.

Malala Yousafzai had an informal meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif here. It was the first meeting of Malala with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who maintained that his government would leave no stone unturned for the sake of promotion of girl’s education since women are playing remarkable role for the betterment of society.

Malala, who has attained world fame for her dedication to the cause of education, came here to attend the special gathering of heads of the UN agencies and representatives of bilateral and multilateral entities where she represented the youth.

It was organised by former British prime minister Gordon Brown who has played a remarkable role for education promotion. Malala Yousafzi was the focus of attention at the ceremony. The function was hosted by the Global Partnership for Education headed by Gordon Brown.

The heads of prestigious fiscal and donor institutions, including chiefs of the British Department for International Development (DFID), USAID, European Union (EU), the Australian Government Overseas Aid Programme (AUSAID), World Bank (WB), Dubai Cares, and Qatar Foundation also joined Prime Minister Nawaz and members of his delegation.
