A mentally deranged man allegedly shot his wife dead here on Thursday at Basti Chanjan Nazru Walli Hatti in Alipur tehsil.

The victim identified as Amna Bibi was a mother of four. Police and forensic teams arrived at the scene and local residents told the media that the suspect, Riaz, had been suffering from mental health issues.

Riaz managed his escape while the body was shifted for autopsy. Further investigation is underway.
