Violent disputes over financial issues are a common occurrence in Punjab, particularly within families.
In March of this year, a man allegedly gunned down seven members of his family, including his mother and two brothers, over a property dispute in Pakpattan. Local police officials told The Express Tribune that the suspect, Sarwar, allegedly murdered his mother, two brothers, two nephews, his niece and his sister-in-law. Another niece of the suspect was severely injured in the attack.
The suspected murderer fled the scene after the incident. Contingents of police and Rescue 1122 arrived at the scene along with crime scene department vehicles in the Saddar area.
