Love triangle ends in tragedy

LAHORE – A 22-year-old young lawyer gunned down his beloved and her male tutor in the classroom of a private academy and later committed suicide by shooting himself in the temple with a silencer-fitted pistol here in Baghbanpura area on Wednesday.

The assailant Noor-ul-Hassan was identified as a lawyer through his identity card recovered from his pocket during his body search.

The eyewitnesses said that Noor-ul-Hassan advocate forced his entry into the academy, first opened fire on the teacher while he was delivering lecture and later shot his beloved, Sidra, dead who was attending the class. She was a graduate student at a local college.

Soon after their death, the youth left a suicide note at the site and finished his episode by shooting himself in the head.

“The bodies were lying in a pool of blood inside the classroom as we reached the spot. The pistol was hanging in the fingers of the killer,” police investigators said, adding that Noor was recovered dead in uniform from the academy.

The police investigators said Noor took it as a ‘last option’ when he failed in convincing the girl and her parents for marriage. This tragic incident of gruesome killings sparked fear and terror among the classmates and they ran away from the classroom making hue and cry.

The teacher had set up academy in one of the rooms of his residence, where he used to teach.

The police investigators said that love affair between the killer and the deceased female student was the main reason behind this triple murder incident. Noor had been living in a rented house in the Main Bazar of Naqshbandi locality where the incident occurred.

Some months back his parents had shifted from the said area to Tajpura Scheme to turn his attention from the issue but the youth kept on visiting the Naqshbandi locality to convince the girl. According to the suicide note, the investigators said, the youth had nurtured grudge against the academy teacher for creating hurdles in his love affair with the girl. “I fell in love with Sidra some three years ago. I sent my parents several times to convince her mother for marriage but she flatly refused,” he wrote in the suicide note.

Noor further wrote in the letter that Najam (teacher) tried to turn Sidra against him and had almost succeeded in his attempt.
The youth expressed his wish to donate his eyes to any deserving blind man and burry him in the Dars Bary Mian graveyard.
“Noor appeared in the academy with a pistol and completed his target without exchanging a single word with anybody present there,” an academy student told the police investigators. The victim girl’s family and relatives turned aggressive when they came to know incident and some of them rushed to the residence of the deceased youth. However, scores of policemen stopped them by force in the way when furious people were marching toward his (Noor) residence situated in the same area.
Several police jawans were later deployed in and around the house of Noor to provide security to his family.
The victim girl’s family refused for her autopsy but the policemen shifted the body to the City morgue amid strong resistance.
