POLLS: The local leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf said here on Monday that they would continue the mass contact campaign for the upcoming local government elections.Rangaiz Khan, PTI former district president, told workers in a meeting that their party had announced during the general elections that local government polls would be held to devolve powers to people at grassroots level.
“We would fulfil our pledge. The determination of PTI leaders became clear when the core committee of the party said few days ago that local government elections could be held in the current month but the date was changed on the demand of opposition parties,” he said.
PTI district president Anwar Haqdad said their party’s government never adopted delaying tactics like the other political parties that did not hold the local government elections. “The record of these political parties is dubious,” he said.
Mr Haqdad said that PTI workers should remain in contact with the people to educate them about the party’s programme and the positive changes, which would be felt by the people.
“This is our entire philosophy and we have been working for it without any brake. We are determined to continue our hard work, hoping that the outlined objectives would be achieved,” the PTI leader said.
