Court orders release of Aisha’s husband

SUKKUR, July 25: Zahid Malik, the husband of Aisha Malik, the woman who had tried to sell her children due to extreme poverty, was granted bail in the third case of motorcycle snatching on Friday by the district and sessions court of Ghotki after Ansar Barni Welfare Trust deposited surety bonds of Rs 20,000.

Earlier, the same court had granted him bail in two cases of theft and motorcycle snatching on Wednesday.

According to Qurban Ali Malano advocate, Zahid Malik was produced in the court of second additional sessions judge of Ghotki on Friday for hearing of bail application and the court granted him bail after accepting surety of Rs20,000 from Ansar Barni Welfare Trust.

Qurban Malano said that Zahid Malik, who is in Sukkur Central Jail-I, would be released on Saturday.

Aisha Malik had taken divorce from her first husband, Mohammad Hanif, an ASI in Karachi police, and after the divorce she left four children with Mohammad Hanif and shifted to Mirpur Mathelo along with her youngest son, where she married to Zahid Malik in court in 2006, and gave birth to a son from him.

According to sources, Aisha’s decision to marry Zahid Malik angered her elder brother, Ghulam Mohammad Korai, who is a law practitioner in Mirpur Mathelo, and he forced Zahid Malik to divorce his sister and on his refusal, he allegedly implicated him in three false cases of theft and motorcycle snatching and since last 17 months he is in Sukkur Central Jail.

When Aisha Malik’s elder brother, Ghulam Mohammad Korai contacted on cellphone, he termed the story narrated by his sister baseless.

He claimed that after falling in love with Zahid Malik, Aisha fled the house of her husband, Mohammad Hanif, along with the youngest son and married to Zahid in court without even taking divorce from her first husband.

This correspondent tried to contact Mohammad Hanif on his cellphone for his comments, but it was switched off, while his landline number was not available.
