Karachi: A couple died after armed assailants barged into their house and brutally stabbed and slit their throats as well as of their daughter on Monday.
Salahuddin, 50, and his wife, Tahira, 48, died while their daughter, Sumaiya, 20, was injured in the incident in the Jamshed Quarters police jurisdiction. The attack happened inside the families flat on the third floor of Daccan Apartments, Hyderabad Colony.
Station House Officer (SHO) Khushnood Jawed said that acting on information a police team went to the scene, where they found three members of a family critically injured. They victims were shifted to Aga Khan Hospital, where Salahuddin and his wife succumbed to their injuries.
During investigation, it was found the fifty-year-old man was retired. Moreover, Salahuddin was also a cancer patient. SHO Jawed said that they had talked to the neighbours and taken into custody a watchman of the building, but no clue was found as nobody saw anyone suspicious.
The couple had two daughters, one of whom is married and living with her husband in Soldier Bazaar. At the moment, she is in shock and in no position to give a statement.
SHO Jawed said that they would go through the family history to gauge if an old enmity was the cause of the double murder. They would also round up the family’s servants. Sumaiya, the only witness to the stabbing incident, is in a critical condition.
