Clerk, second wife, cousin burnt alive

LAHORE, July 26: Some people allegedly set ablaze a clerk of the provincial education department, his second wife and a female cousin at their residence in Yousafnagar near Masjidwali Street, Sherakot by-pass early on Saturday.

The victims were identified as Muhammad Nasir Ali, 30, his wife Sana, 20, and cousin Saima, 26, all residents of Alipur Chattha, Wazirabad.

The rescuers said they responded an emergency call at around 3:24am that there was a fire in a house. After reaching the spot, the rescuers found three people burning and shifted them to Mayo Hospital on two ambulances in a critical condition. The Sherakot police said the victims succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

Reports said Nasir had contracted second marriage with stage actress Sana a few weeks back. He has a child from his first wife Neelam. His both wives were living in the same house.

Two unidentified people, riding a bike, came there and entered the house of Nasir by scaling the boundary walls when they were asleep in the courtyard.

The intruders sprinkled kerosene oil on Nasir, Sana and their cousin Saima, set them ablaze and escaped.

According to initial police investigation, it is premature to say anything about the involvement of anybody in the murder incident.

However, a police official told Dawn that Nasir’s wives had differences over some family issues and involvement of his first wife Neelam could not be ruled out in the triple murder incident.

He said Neelam, on the other hand, had expressed doubt about Sana’s father that he was not happy with the marriage of his daughter with Nasir.

Nasir had contracted his second marriage with Sana without getting permission from the elders of his family as well as Sana’s father, he added.

Iqbal Town investigation division SP Shoaib Khurram, when contacted, said Saima had been living at Nasir’s house after her divorce two months back.

He suspected that some family members might be involved in the incident.
