Prime suspect in girl’s rape, murder case arrested: police

TOBA TEK SINGH: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested one of the three suspects allegedly involved in the gang rape and murder of a girl, committed two days ago.

Syed Mubeen Ahsan, a spokespersons for Faisalabad city police officer (CPO), said the prime suspect, Faryad Ali, was arrested by Garh police, while raids were being conducted to nab his two accomplices and a woman facilitator.

He said quoting the FIR registered by Garh police that the victim Rajan Bibi’s father, Bashir Ahmed, of Darbar Murad Shah Dakhli, Tandlianwala, said that Perveen, a woman of the same locality, lured his daughter to a sugarcane field, where Faryad and his two unidentified accomplices were already present.

The father said the suspects took turns to gang-rape his daughter and later forced her to take poison.

After she was found in a critical condition by her family, she was rushed to Tandlianwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where doctors referred her to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, but she died there.

The CPO’s spokesperson said Faryad told the police investigators that Rajan Bibi wanted to marry him, but he refused, and in a fit of dejection she committed suicide by taking poison.

However, Mr Ahsan said that in a video clip uploaded on social media, Rajan Bibi had accused Faryad and his two accomplices of making her drink some poisonous liquid.
