LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of self-immolation by a victim of a gang rape and her husband due to non-provision of justice in Joharabad, Khushab and sought a report from the Khushab DPO. The CM also directed that best treatment facilities be provided to the injured while stern action should be taken against those who hindered the process of provision of justice to the aggrieved. Separately, Shahbaz took notice of the death of dental surgeon Dr Ashraf allegedly due to police torture in a police station in Sahiwal. He sought a report from police in this regard.
The CM ordered that the matter should be thoroughly investigated and action should be taken under the law against the persons responsible. Meanwhile, the CM expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of the mother of Rana Jawad, bureau chief, Geo News, Islamabad. In a condolence message, the chief minister prayed that may God rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude. Separately, Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of the sister of Mujeebur Rehman Shami, chief editor Daily Pakistan. In a condolence message, the Chief Minister prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
