RAWALPINDI: A marriage proposal ended in disaster on Thursday when a 20-year-old shot himself after shooting his love in Pirwadhai police precincts.
The woman, whose marriage was scheduled for tomorrow (October 5), is battling for life.
Mehmoona, the 30-year-old teacher, along with her mother and two cousins were on their way to the market when Nauman Butt, a disabled BCom student, fired shots at her, according to an aunt of the injured lady.
After the shooting, he attempted to commit suicide by firing himself into his belly, it is told. They were taken to the hospital where the woman is stated to be in critical condition.
Reportedly, Butt fell in love with his teacher and proposed marriage to her but the woman’s parents refused. Both were resident of Khayaban-e-Sir Syed.
Butt’s mother felt remorse over the tragedy. “I’m in deep shock. My son brought shame on us, though he is a brilliant student.” she said while sitting beside her son’s bed. “I can’t say anything,” she added and prayed for the recovery of the injured woman.
She said that his son used to go to the house of the girl for tuition. This scribe tried talking to boy but he refused to speak.
