In a tragic incident a young man and his cousin were shot dead by their uncle over allegations of illicit relations in Miranpur area of Ghotki district on Monday.
The police informed that they came to know through family sources of the slain individuals that their uncle was among the assailants who have escaped after killing Sajan Sundrani and Saleema Sundrani. The incident’s FIR could not be lodged by Monday evening.
As many as 101 men and women were killed in the name of honour across Sindh between January and June 2024, according to figures released by the Sindh Suhai Organisation, a social and women rights body.
It expressed concern over the increasing incidents of violence against women, including murder and sexual harassment, in province.
The figures show that most honour killings took place in Jacobabad district, where 22 women and 12 men were murdered in the name of honour during the six months of the current year.
