A 13-year-old domestic worker was reportedly tortured by her employers in the Defence C area for not performing tasks to their satisfaction. Following intervention by Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt, the police apprehended two of the accused, Waqar and Asad, while raids are under way to arrest Waqar’s wife, who was also nominated in the case.
According to Hina Parvez Butt, a case has been registered over a complaint lodged by the victim’s aunt.
The girl, who had been working in the household for the past 18 months, suffered multiple injuries, reportedly inflicted by her employers.
The Punjab Women Protection Authority chairperson
visited the girl, expressing her commitment to ensuring that justice is served and condemning the cruelty shown towards the child.
She stressed that the authority’s top priority is safeguarding women and children, vowing no leniency for those who inflict harm on vulnerable individuals.
Encouraging the public to report such cases, she urged anyone witnessing abuse to contact a helpline at 1737, assuring that the authorities are fully committed to upholding the safety and dignity of all citizens.
