Main accused, four others in woman stripping case shot dead

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The main accused, his son and three others in the infamous case of stripping of a woman, Sharifa Bibi, were shot dead by unidentified gunmen near Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) on Choudwan Road in Dera Ismail Khan on Monday.

The accused named Sajawal Ahmad, his son Inayatullah, Niamatullah, Kifayatullah and Aslam were on their way to court when unknown armed men opened indiscriminate fire on them near CRBC on Choudwan Road. As a result, they sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.

Soon after the incident, the local police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to the hospital for medico legal formalities.

Sharifa Bibi, 16, was allegedly stripped and paraded naked at gunpoint in Garra Matt village of Dera Ismail Khan while returning home along with fellow village women on October 27, 2017.

Ten persons including Rehmatullah, Shah Jahan Ahmad, Gulistan Ahmad, Ramzan Ahmad, Nasir, Said Mohammad, Aslam, Sanaullah, Ikram and Sajawal Ahmad were nominated in the case. Eight of them were arrested but the main culprits Sajawal Ahmad and Rehmatullah were at large.

Four years later, the victim’s family and the accused party reached reconciliation. A local court had also ordered the release of the nine accused who had been behind bars for three years after both the parties reached a settlement.
