HARIPUR: An infant was allegedly sexually assaulted in a village of union council Dheenda, said the police on Tuesday. Eighteen-month-old Noreen Bibi was lying in her cot in her family’s courtyard while her mother and siblings were busy preparing Iftari. At around 5pm Noreen went missing, her father Khalid told the Khalabat Township police. He and his family members tried to find her and even made an announcement in the village mosque. At Iftar time, some villagers found the baby crying in a neighbouring orchard and she appeared to have been sexually assaulted. Her father took her to the police station and accused Asif, son of Muhammad Din, of the same village, of kidnapping and assaulting her. The police took the girl to the hospital. A medical report is awaited.
